I am a Pan Mee (board noodles) lover and you can imagine my excitement when i come across Super Kitchen Chilly Pan Mee Restaurant which cite Pan Mee as their specialty. It is located next to Nam Heong Restaurant and Vietnam Kitchen Restaurant in USJ 9, Subang Jaya.
The restaurant is the 5th branch of the well-known Super Kitchen Chilly Pan Mee Restaurant at Batu Road, Chow Kit. It was said that this restaurant is copying the concept of Kin Kin Pan Mee in Kuala Lumpur, nevertheless it gained pretty good review among the food crowd.
The restaurant offers a limited menu of 3 different types of Pan Mee, namely Chilly Pan Mee, Curry Pan Mee and Pan Mee Soup. Chilly Pan Mee is their recommended item. Chilli + Pan Mee is an interesting concept, but does it work? It may work on other patrons but not us.
My friend ordered Curry Pan Mee @ RM6.00. The serving time is pretty fast. I was told that it was extremely salty and the curry didn't exhibit any fragrant aroma at all. It was so salty that my friend was not able to finish the Curry Pan Mee, leaving it 1/3 full.
I ordered Pan Mee Soup @ RM5.50. It just taste like ordinary clear soup Pan Mee to me. It is served with a poached egg, minced pork, sliced mushroom, fu zuk (dried bean curd skin), crunchy ikan bilis (anchovies) and fried shallots.
I was told that the noodles were home-made, that is why it looks a bit different in shape and a bit starchier than the ones i used to have.
Apart from Pan Mee dishes, they offers a limited selection of side dishes as well. We ordered Sui Kow Soup @ RM4.00. It comes with 4 BIG Sui Kow (dumpling packed with minced pork).
The Sui Kow was filled to the brim with mushrooms, black fungus, radish and minced pork. They are indeed generous with their ingredients. Tastewise, it was delicious, with strong meaty taste and moisture meat filling.
One would think that with the somewhat limited menu, they could do well. But not the case here. Honestly, we find the food below our expectation. Maybe because our expectations were running high.
Add: No. 46, Jalan USJ 9/5S, 47620 Subang Jaya, Selangor.

Just an update, the curry pan mee has no more meat balls. The chili pan mee has no more meat balls too. And the serving portion of curry pan mee has shrunk. Price not shrunk. Price can only go up.
ReplyDeleteThe most irritating part is this shop dilute the "sah lei" huice with water and then add ice before serving it.
