Taiping Thiam Kee Restaurant @ Taipan USJ, Subang Jaya

Went to Taiping Thiam Kee Restaurant last Saturday. It is located just back to back with Victoria Station Restaurant in Taipan USJ, Subang Jaya.

It was said that this is one of the other 2 famous Taiping Shredded Chicken Hor Fun and they are actually originated from Taiping, Perak which has its history back to year 1955.

Taiping Thiam Kee Restaurant claimed that their food are made from scratch daily with fresh ingredients and is cooked based on a 70-year-old mama recipes.

The restaurant serve up a wide variety of delights but noodles are the signature dishes. The price is quite reasonable for an air-cond restaurant with cozy and friendly ambience. Not to mention its excellent customer service which took me by surprise!

My friend ordered Curry Chicken Rice @ RM6.90. Quite a huge portion for one serving, with white rice, curry chicken and stir-fried cabbage. I was told that the curry was spicy and flavourful. A tasty feast with an above average standard.

I ordered Shredded Chicken Hor Fun (Dry Version) @ RM5.40. This is their popular house specialty. They claimed to use old kampung chicken for the soup and the chicken are cooked in whole for 10 hours to derive its essence. The price is about the lowest i have had in similar joints.

The hor fun (flat rice noodles cut in small strips) was smooth and delicious. I wonder if it has got something to do with the premium soy sauce made in Taiping in which they claimed to use. Soup base is clear with average sweetness. The fact that i am constantly feeling thirsty after the meal should give you some clue.

We also ordered Assorted Fish Balls @ RM4.50 as side dish. I tried the Assorted Fish Balls with much enthusiasm. It turned out that there is nothing much to shout about. The bouncy Fish Balls taste more like a product of mass production than home-made.

Oh! By the way, i ordered "Michael Jackson" @ RM3.20. It is actually a mix of soya bean milk and grass jelly. They should have given me a bigger straw in order for me to suck those grass jelly! I prefer to suck it by straw than to eat it by spoon. Weird huh?
