JAKE'S Charbroil Steaks Restaurant @ Medan Damansara

My friend and i went for a dinner at JAKE'S Charbroil Steaks Restaurant last Saturday. JAKE'S Charbroil Steaks Restaurant in Medan Damansara has been serving fantastic steaks since 1982 and its fame as a beef steakhouse. It's a US-style steak house except the serving portion.

We were led by a friendly server to the section upstairs which is a much more open area. The restaurant gives off a rather Wild Wild West ambience and atmosphere here is laidback and casual. However, it is obvious that some minor parts have fall into disrepair.

Diners would have much privacy downstairs as the seating arrangements are booths that are made like an old bandwagon style with wooden panelling in addition to dim lighting typical of steakhouses. It's truly an experience in itself.

This is another corner of the section upstairs. I can't help but puzzled: What are these string of banners doing here?! Maybe they want to highlight to us that their beef are imported from Australia and New Zealand. But hanging banners like this is definitely not a good idea.

This menu will surely transport you to the days of Cowboys. The menu is not extensive, encompassing a limited selection of steak, poultry and seafood.

For appetizer, both of us ordered Chicken Mushroom Soup @ RM9.00. We were told that soups here are of a home-made recipe. It taste very meat-y and not too cheese-y. You can even find lots of small chunks of chicken in the soup. We like the creamy home-cooked soup very much. A definite must try for soup lovers.

For main course, my friend ordered JAKE'S Charbroiled Chicken @ RM20.90 and Pineapple Juice @ RM8.00. It is served with raw carrots, sliced tomato, sliced cucumbers, lettuces and french fries.

The taste was simply outstanding as it filled your mouth with charbroiled flavour and aroma. This dish was above average, better than expected and highly recommended.

On a side note, eating the raw carrots is liken to a rabbit eating carrot... you can hear the crunch when you munch!

As for me, i ordered Chunky Garlic Mushroom Chicken @ RM32.90 and Lime Juice @ RM8.00. It is served with boiled carrots, broccolis, corn-cob and a baked potato.

The taste was no doubt delicious but it was just average, as expected in its class. Personally, i just thought that any restaurant worth its salt deserves the same remark. By the way, i like the baked potato very much.

We did not order any dessert from the caboose as we were quite full. For desserts, they do offers home-made pastries, Haagen Dazs ice-cream and limited selection of fruits.

Service is prompt as the helpful servers are always on hand to serve you. Overall, we had a scrumptious dinner. The price is a bit steep, but the quality of the food and excellent service makes up for this.

  1. 'It's a US-style steak house except the serving portion.'- So the serving portion is Malaysian style of small pieces? LOL

  2. I heard that in the US, the normal serving size for steak is quite massive. "Malaysian style of small pieces"... that's a very interesting description indeed! ;p
